- Colour: Brown to dark brown powder.
- Ash Content: The total ash content should usually be ≤ 5%, while the amount of acid insoluble ash ≤ 1%.
- Sennoside Content: The sennoside molecules "A" and "B" that give the active medicinal effect are usually between 2%-20% by weight (or as specified by the buyer).
Processing & Packaging
- To ensure the quality of Senna leaves/pods, we will select, clean, cut into smaller pieces, and extract the active constituents (sennosides) via controlled extraction with either water or a hydro-alcoholic (ethanol and water) solution.
- The extracted material will then be filtered and concentrated under vacuum before either spraying or drying it in the vacuum so that it forms into a stable free-flowing powder. Once formed, the Powder will be standardized to contain the required amount of sennosides.
- The finished Senna powder will be packed in hygienic conditions using food-grade containers (such as HDPE or Fiber drums with inner polyethylene liners), with clear label showing the product name; batch number; net weight; date of manufacture; expiration date; and country where made.
